Der macht mich verrückt! – Ofenfrikadellen in Champignon Rahmsoße

Ingredients:

For the Frikadellen (Meatballs):

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the Champignon Rahmsoße (Mushroom Cream Sauce):

  • 250g fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, oregano, paprika, and nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the Champignon Rahmsoße.
  6. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms, and sauté until they are soft and browned.
  7. Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir well to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes to eliminate the raw taste of the flour.
  8. Gradually pour in the beef or vegetable broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  9. Stir in the heavy cream and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Once the meatballs are done baking, transfer them to the pan with the mushroom cream sauce. Gently coat the meatballs with the sauce.
  11. Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for an additional 5-7 minutes, allowing them to absorb the flavors.
  12. Serve the Ofenfrikadellen in Champignon Rahmsoße over noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
